Kos for the Time Out For Teachers Experience

Kos

‘Where are we going?’ said Ron. ‘Some place called Kefalos, Crete is full’ I said. And 18years later we’re still going to Kos.You get hooked for life once you go to Kefalos. It’s quiet, it’s peaceful, it’s friendly, it’s a place where you get to say Kalispera everyday and get an answer back. It’s safe, it’s laid back. Is it beautiful? I think so, though maybe not in that breathtaking sort of way, more in that comfortable, familiar way, especially when you drive into Kamari bay from the airport and see Aghios Stefanos in front of you. It’s a place that has so many hidden gems to offer and once you get to know the locals they will be pleased to share them with you. It’s also a place where anyone of any age can go and feel safe and welcome.

Optional extras

Activities as optional extras are available during your stay, depending on the time of year and include; Greek cookery, pottery decoration, painting and drawing, photography, sun bathing for those who like a quiet life and for those who like a challenge, kite surfing, wind surfing, catamaran sailing, fishing, walking, cycling.Details are to be seen on other pages.

Travel arrangements

I recommend you make your own Travel arrangements either through an established operator or independently (Easyjet is a good option and Olympic and Aegean) as accommodation is so widely available in the resort. Your accomodation will be a matter of personal choice. We so often hear from travel agents that resorts are full but it’s just not the case and it’s easy to find somewhere on line to stay in Kefalos and we advise you book before you come. You can still sign up for the workshop even if you come on a Package Holiday. To see more of the island then car hire is available, although a bus does go from the village into Kos Town and there are boat trips to other island for those who like to island hop.

If you want to see Kos at its best and have a hour to spare watch this video on Youtube taken in 2012, it really provides a flavour of the island.
